We live at a time when conflict pervades the news and many human activities are at odds with nature. Much of the land on which birds once depended for food and shelter is now devoted to human purposes, often with unintended and deleterious consequences for birds. Yet millions of people seek greater kinship with their natural surroundings.

That’s where the stories of BirdNote come in. They spread news of nature that is fascinating and ultimately reassuring. They cultivate a sense of mystery and wonder. They set the stage for action that conserves habitat. And they bring balance to the news.
