The second Red-headed Woodpecker at this cavity (--wait for it--) has a genetic mutation called leucism, which prevents pigment to be deposited in a bird's feathers, resulting in patches or a full body of white feathers. Have you ever seen a leucistic bird? Here's a leucistic "Black" Oystercatcher.
