An avid birder since the age of 8, Andy Johnson is now an undergraduate at Cornell University, studying ecology and evolutionary biology. He has spent the past four summers in Churchill, Manitoba, studying migratory shorebirds and filming the project and the subarctic environment. He has since fallen in love with these fascinating birds, and plans to pursue a graduate degree in conservation and natural history filmmaking - a good excuse to follow shorebirds across the western hemisphere! Andy has organized and participated in video and audio recording expeditions to Chile and California for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and has filmed sustainable development and conservation projects in Mexico and Ecuador. His love of photography and videography constantly fuels a desire to communicate research to broad audiences for the conservation of habitats and their wild occupants.
