Shelly Ellison once mistakenly believed the sound of a male Ruffed Grouse drumming in Grand Teton National Park to be stampeding bison. Since then, she has experienced a number of avian “a-ha” moments while serving organizations including the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Lubbock, Texas; Seattle Audubon; and the Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST). She brings to BirdNote a passion for conservation and more than 16 years of experience in public relations and non-profit fund development.
Shelly's interests include birding, reading memoirs, practicing yoga, and exploring the natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and philosophy from Pacific University.
