A Short-eared Owl Lands

Gregg Thompson

March 19, 2013

A Short-eared Owl comes in to land near photographer Gregg Thompson in Washington State. These owls can be seen year around in a broad band across North America where breeding and wintering range overlap.

Check out this sequence. Do you see how active the wings are for balancing on the landing?
