I’m Ariana Remmel, the managing producer for this show. It’s fundraising week, and we’re trying to reach 1,000 recurring monthly donors for BirdNote by the end of this year.

Donors who give five, 10 or 20 dollars a month provide an ongoing, steady source of support for BirdNote so that we can continue producing the shows you love. And this week only, when you become a recurring donor at BirdNote.org, we will mail you next year’s “Birds of BirdNote” wall calendar as a thank you.

In fall and winter, birds that might have spent the summers with just their mate gather into flocks. Many winter flocks include members of different species, banding together to brave the cold.

Like those birds, people can do a lot to help each other. We think of BirdNote’s audience as our flock, and we’re much stronger together than as individuals. But every single member of the flock counts, and every action is important.
