Nancy Rumbel

Nancy Rumbel, composer of the BirdNote theme, grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where as an avid Girl Scout she enjoyed many camping trips in the Hill Country.  Her love for music and nature has served her well. She worked with the Paul Winter Consort for several years, which included a memorable solo performance at Carnegie Hall with a Golden Eagle onstage. In 2003, she won a Grammy with the duo Tingstad & Rumbel for their recording “Acoustic Garden." In 2011, she was commissioned and recorded a composition for ocarina and seven Taiwanese birds. On her most recent birding trip to the Chiricahua Mountains in Arizona, she heard and saw the Elegant Trogon and more than 61 species of birds.
